Muharram 2020 Programs

Dear friends,

Join us live this Muharram in commemorating our beloved Imam Hossein (pbuh), while respecting physical distancing!

In what follows you may find all you need to know about Muharram programs held by IHCCO.

• Live broadcasting at live.imamhossein.ca
• Nightly Programs, 8-10 pm, August 20-30, 2020
• On the day of Ashura (August 30), there will be a special program at 11 am, in addition to the nightly program
• All ceremonies will include special programs for kids and the story of Ashura presentation in English for teenagers

Donations

IHCCO is funded entirely by local residents as an independent organization. The budget of this year’s Muharram programs covers expenses on kids programs, guest speakers, live broadcasting infrastructures, and one Nazr meal. You can contribute financially in holding these programs and the Nazr meal by donating on this page. If we receive extra donations, it will be used for developing further cultural services and programs at IHCCO to serve the community better.

Pickup Muharram Nazr and Kids Package

Respecting physical distancing, this year’s Muharram ceremonies will be held live online. That is why there will be only one Nazr at Ashura night (August 29) and registration is required. In addition, there will be special packages for the kids which need to picked up by the registered families. In these regards, please fill out this registration form (in Farsi) by Sunday, August 16. The food will be served in compostable containers to protect our environment.

Donate Blood this Muharram!

IHCCO in collaboration with Canadian Blood Services invites you to join the Muharram Blood Donation campaign in honor of Imam Hossein. Let us know if you’re willing to be a blood donor – even if you already know you’re not eligible – by filling out this registration form (in Farsi) not later than Saturday, August 22. The eligibility criteria is included in the above form. The donation date is on Day of Tasua, August 29 from morning to noon. Please be advised that despite the pandemic, Canadian Blood Services still welcomes all the donations by ensuring that the physical distancing and other preventative measurements are respected.
