National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Dear friends,
As you likely know, September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to commemorate the legacy of residential schools which could be a great time to have a reflection on the ongoing colonial realities of Canada and their longstanding harms to Indigenous people as a way to further challenge colonialism in our country.
Expressing its sympathy with the families of the victims of the residential schools, Imam Hossein Cultural Center of Ottawa condemns oppression and discrimination in any form and praises any attempt to promote justice for all humans in the world.
On a day reminiscent of the darker moments in history, let’s collectively reflect on the baselessness of all sorts of racial, religious, ethnic, and class superiority. By discussing these ideas in our family, let’s practically be involved in building a more equitable world. May Allah help us in this path and bless everyone with his mercy!
