We would like to acknowledge that since we reside in Ottawa, we live on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People. The Algonquin People have inhabited and cared for these lands long before today. We take this time to show our gratitude and respect to them, and to the land for all that it provides us: trees to give shade, water and food to sustain us, and paths to connect us.
Immigrants from across the globe alongside Indigenous people form this great, diverse nation hand in hand and pay tribute to reconciliation, inclusion, fairness, and respect to live with each other in peace and equity under the rule of law with freedom of speech and worship.
Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa, as part of the Iranian-Canadian Muslim community in Ottawa, stands in solidarity with Indigenous people to promote understanding of the past, tolerance at the present time, and hope for the bright future of this beautiful country. The future is in our hands, let’s all shape it together.
Happy Canada Day 2022! 🇨🇦
