In Response to Recent Developments in Iran

Imam Ali (pbup) taught that governance is justified not by the pursuit of power, but by public demand and the duty to uphold justice and protect human life. In the Sermon of al-Shaqshaqiyyah and his directive to Malik al-Ashtar, he emphasizes justice, care for the people, and the sanctity of life, warning that unjust bloodshed leads to the erosion and fall of authority. In this view, legitimate authority rests on justice and human dignity, not violence.

The Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa extends its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent events and expresses solidarity with all those affected and our fellow citizens. As emphasized in previous events and in line with its cultural mission, the IHCCO condemns all forms of violence and violations of human dignity, and hopes for peace, justice, and stability in our homeland, grounded in the will of the people and free from foreign interference.
