IHCCO 11th Annual General Assembly and Term 10 Performance Report

We are pleased to inform you that the IHCCO’s 11th term officially began after the annual General Assembly session that was held at the Community Cultural Centre on April 26, 2025. The office of Directors and Trustees is still held until the next three and one terms, respectively.

With gratitude for God’s blessings and the unwavering dedication of our valued volunteers across managerial and operational roles, we successfully executed a wide array of meaningful and diverse initiatives throughout the 10th term, including:

  • 40 commemorative and celebratory programs, from the birth anniversary of Imam Reza to Eid al-Fitr prayers;
  • 56 social gatherings, including In Canadian Society and Book & Tea sessions;
  • 68 educational sessions, covering topics from Persian Calligraphy to Arabic Literature;
  • 5 community campaigns, including Green Support for Children, Blood Donation Drives, Support for CHEO (Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario), Empowerment of Vulnerable Muslim Women, and “Hope & Healing with Hussein”;
  • 39 content-rich announcements marking national and religious occasions;
  • Continued religious services such as officiating Islamic marriage ceremonies and collecting Zakat al-Fitr;
  • Expanded cultural store offerings and introduced new cultural services, including custom Persian calligraphy artwork designed as personalized gifts;
  • Upgrades to digital infrastructure, security systems (CCTV), and health support equipment (AED devices and folding patient beds);
  • Ongoing operation of our Persian School and hosting of the March Break Camp.

These efforts represent just a portion of the services the IHCCO provided during this past term.

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to your continued support and the financial contributions of 37 Ottawa-based families (a 16% decrease from the previous term), we were still able to cover the maintenance costs of our permanent location. These expenses were fully funded by Ottawa residents and the services provided by the centre, allowing us to maintain a community-driven hub for our cultural initiatives.

In the interest of transparency, the IHCCO’s income sources and expenditures for this term are summarized in the charts below. The total revenue for the term amounted to $107,373.47, while total expenses were $95,732.77. The net balance, including the Persian School, was $11,640.70, and -$3,825.23 when excluding school-related funds.

We sincerely thank all our local financial supporters and dedicated volunteers. We continue to welcome volunteer participation in all areas of IHCCO. In addition, students who contribute their time are eligible to receive community service hour certificates from IHCCO for their school requirements.
